The Agatha Christie Collection contains 85 volumes of hardback books. Published by Planet Three Publishing between 2001 and 2004 as a magazine subscription, it was issued fortnightly at £4.99. Accompanying the books came 85 magazines in 5 binders (optional, separate purchase). The website was: http://www.agathachristiecollection.co.uk but is unavailable. The Internet wayback machine doesn’t provide much but does include the following description:
“The brilliant fortnightly series featuring the Crime Writer of the Century and her masterpieces.
With every issue of The Agatha Christie Collection you can enjoy an exclusive hardback collector’s edition of one of her undisputed masterpieces. Collect the series to build your own library of Christie classics.”
Availability
Partial and complete collections do pop up secondhand on ebay and alike, but as expected a complete 85 book collection is rare and can command anywhere from £150 to £600 (as of 2021) including the magazines. The 2 volumes Agatha Christie’s Autobiography (Vol 84 and 85) are rare and harder to find, as are the volumes 80 to 83 so make sure these are included. But these were printed in the millions, so if you have patience you can pick up a whole collection, or individually as you go along.
Overall, the quality is as expected for the original RRP of £4.99 and individual titles can be picked up for a couple of pounds, if you want to have a go and see how the quality is. Paper is acidic so given that the books themselves are almost 20 years old, expect some yellowing papers in the same way as the Penguin paperbacks. But you can be lucky and find a good collection without yellowing. I find these little gems wonderful and a great way to acquire a whole collection. ▪️
