Folio Society publishes 26 new titles for 2011/2012

The Folio Society has just updated their website for the new Prospectus 2011-2012. They are going to publish 26 new amazing titles in a slight different publishing schedule: August 2011, November 2011, December 2011, and January 2012. This bold change from the FS is quite a new development given that the prior membership year was divided into 4 quarters: September, December, March and June running from 1 September to the end of June.  Members are not accustomed to see the FS publish all their prospectus titles by January.

Although details are sketchy at the moment we can expect that the membership year continues to the end of June 2012. While this new change sounds like a good marketing decision to allow members to focus on the first 6 months; initially influencing them to buy more from these selections – simplifying it out; the question that remains to be answered is can we expect another round of publication after January 2012? We are in terra incognita now – I can’t say exactly what the FS has in plan after January 2012, but I am sure you can expect them to be announcing more books than the 26 published today More details about the Folio Society and its new Prospectus can be found here.

UPDATE 18. Aug 2011: Our friend Quicksilver from LibraryThing has just notified us after a visit from the Members Room that the “rationale behind having all the prospectus books out by January is that members who pre-order do not have to wait so long and it releases the publishing schedule after January for more new books.” Hmm. more books that sounds wonderful!
